Indeed, the number of months with
Allāh is twelve [lunar]
months in the register of
Allāh [from] the day He created the heavens and
the earth; of these, four are sacred. That is the
correct religion, so do not wrong yourselves during
them. And fight against the disbelievers collectively as
they fight against you collectively. And know that
Allāh is with the
righteous [who fear Him].(At Tauba:36)
Hadith
This month
is also deemed to be a prelude to the month of Ramadan,
because the month of Ramadan follows it after the
intervening month of Sha’baan. Therefore, when the Holy
Prophet
sighted the moon of Rajab, he used to pray to Allah
“O Allah, make the month of Rajab and Sha’baan blessed
for us and let us reach the month of Ramadan (i.e.
prolong our life up to Ramadan so that we may benefit
from its merits and blessings).”
