Al Huda Institute would like to thank fellow Canadians for the tremendous outpouring of support we have received this week. Our hearts have been warmed by the kind expressions of sympathy and understanding we have received from many of you who know first-hand that Al Huda Institute has always taught peaceful religious teachings of Islam.
Please keep sharing your experiences; the hashtag #alhudataughtme on Facebook and Twitter have served as inspiration and motivation for us all in this difficult time.
The Institute has been re-opened today with extra supervision and security. We felt this was a necessary precaution, given recent anti-Muslim hate crimes in the GTA and several hostile messages our organization has received in the last few days. We have always been proud to provide a sanctuary for women, a safe space where women may explore their faith and deepen their relationships, and we will continue to do that. As Canadian Muslims, we are proud to live in a country which embraces pluralism and diversity.
We also want to re-iterate our gratitude to the Peel Regional Police who have remained visible in the neighbourhood to assure community members that their safety is a priority. We look forward to getting back to serving and educating our communities.
