Dear brother and sisters, do you feel like you didn’t make the most out of Ramadan this year?

Do you wish that you could have done more good deeds and gained more rewards?

Did you stop performing some of your habitual and consistent good deeds after the month of Ramadan ended?

Well, Alhamdullilah there’s still hope and good news!

The month of Dhul Hijjah is upon us and the first ten days of this month are another great opportunity to please Allah (swt), as these days are very virtuous and beloved to Him.

Allah SWT swore in the Quran by the ten nights of Dhul Hijjah. In verse 2 of Surah Al Fajr, Allah states, “And [by] ten nights”. In Tafseer Ibn Kathir, it is reported that Ibn `Abbas, Ibn Zubayr, Mujahid and others among the Salaf and the latter generations interpret ‘The ten nights’ as referring to the (first) ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.

We also learn from many authentic ahadith that that the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah are very virtuous.

Ibn Abbas reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “No good deeds are better than what is done in these first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah.” Some companions of the Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Not even jihad in the way of Allah, except for a man who goes out with his life and wealth at risk and he returns with nothing.”[Source: Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī 969]

Another virtue of these blessed days is that in them, Allah(SWT) perfected Islam by completing His Message, the Quran, on the Day of Arafah, which is the 10th day of Dhul Hijjah.

Allah states this in Surah Al Ma’idah, “This day I have perfected for you your religion and completed My favor upon you and have approved for you Islām as religion“.

Alhamdullilah Allah(swt) has blessed us with another season of worship, so that we can maximize our rewards through plentiful good deeds. In this world, our goal is to worship Allah and please Him so that He can grant us His mercy and salvation in the Hereafter.
