Winter Care Drive and Packing Event

It’s that time of the year. Winter is almost here and it’s time to take out all our warm gear. Thousands of people do not have access to proper winter wear. This year, we’re making winter care kits for people in need in the community. Help us make a kit by donating brand new coats, winter accessories, and hygiene products.

Drop off all items at Al Huda Institute, 5671 McAdam Road, Mississauga, ON, L4Z 1N9. You can click here to donate online.

Join us for our Winter Packing Event on Dec 1, 2018, from 3 pm – 5 pm. We will be sorting items and preparing winter care kits for distribution. Sign up here to volunteer or visit: https://timecounts.org/al-huda-institute/opportunities.

Together, let’s make this a warm winter for our neighbours!

Visit My Mosque 2018 Update

We had a great time hosting our friends and neighbours for Visit My Mosque day on November 10, 2018. We welcomed people of different faiths and communities, and had a great opportunity to socialize and to get to know one another. We’re filled with gratitude towards our entire team of volunteers for their dedication and hard work! Jazakumullahu Khairan for all your help! Here are some photos from the event:

Visit My Mosque

Al Huda Institute would like to invite everyone to Visit My Mosque day! Our aim is to strengthen interfaith relations, get to know our neighbours in the city, and build a stronger community.

The event will feature a tour of the mosque, booths with various activities, light refreshments and more. Invite your friends and neighbours who’ve never visited a mosque before! Drop by anytime between 4pm – 7pm on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at 5671 McAdam Road, Mississauga.

Mental Health and Well-Being Workshop

We all know someone who is facing or has gone through some challenges related to mental health. Is there negativity associated with mental health issues? What are some things we can do as a community to bridge the gap between mental health issues and the help required to deal with these?

Join us on October 27, 2018, at 2:30 pm, at Al Huda Institute, 5671 McAdam Road, Mississauga, with the Muslim Medical Association of Canada as we learn about mental health and well-being in light of Islam. RSVP below.

Tree Planting 2018 Update

Every year, we participate in the City of Mississauga’s tree planting program – One Million Trees – in order to give back to the environment. This year, it happened to be one of the hottest days of the season. Despite the scorching heat, everyone in the community came together – families with children, youth, and seniors – to help build a greener Mississauga! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in this great, fun-filled activity of giving!

Dhul Hijjah Food & Backpack Update

Here’s a quick update of our Dhul Hijjah Food and Backpack Drive:

Alhamdulillah, we raised more than 2500 pounds of food, collected and distributed 145 backpacks to children in need within our community! Our donations were shared with the Arab Community Centre of Toronto, the Etobicoke Food Assistance Program, and Nisa Homes.

Jazakumullahu Khair to all the volunteers who participated in our Packing Event and helped make food packages and backpack kits! Each back-to-school kit contained a backpack, pencils, erasers, sharpeners, ruler, pens, notebook/lined paper, and more! Thank you for helping bring joy to children in need!

Thank you to an extremely generous community for your contributions!
