Winter Food Drive 2018 Update

This year, we participated in Mayor Bonnie Crombie’s Holiday Food Drive to help provide ease to those experiencing hunger in our community. In just 11 days, we collected 1100 lbs of non-perishable food items and donated to The Mississauga Food Bank. We’re so grateful to be part of such a generous community Alhamdulillah!

Winter Care Drive and Packing Event

It’s that time of the year. Winter is almost here and it’s time to take out all our warm gear. Thousands of people do not have access to proper winter wear. This year, we’re making winter care kits for people in need in the community. Help us make a kit by donating brand new coats, winter accessories, and hygiene products.

Drop off all items at Al Huda Institute, 5671 McAdam Road, Mississauga, ON, L4Z 1N9. You can click here to donate online.

Join us for our Winter Packing Event on Dec 1, 2018, from 3 pm – 5 pm. We will be sorting items and preparing winter care kits for distribution. Sign up here to volunteer or visit: https://timecounts.org/al-huda-institute/opportunities.

Together, let’s make this a warm winter for our neighbours!

Mental Health and Well-Being Workshop

We all know someone who is facing or has gone through some challenges related to mental health. Is there negativity associated with mental health issues? What are some things we can do as a community to bridge the gap between mental health issues and the help required to deal with these?

Join us on October 27, 2018, at 2:30 pm, at Al Huda Institute, 5671 McAdam Road, Mississauga, with the Muslim Medical Association of Canada as we learn about mental health and well-being in light of Islam. RSVP below.

Tree Planting 2018 Update

Every year, we participate in the City of Mississauga’s tree planting program – One Million Trees – in order to give back to the environment. This year, it happened to be one of the hottest days of the season. Despite the scorching heat, everyone in the community came together – families with children, youth, and seniors – to help build a greener Mississauga! A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in this great, fun-filled activity of giving!
